Why Replace Element Alone Or As A Kit
The 8544771 is the heat source. If your thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat still reads closed with a meter, you only need the coil. If the dryer lost heat suddenly or smells burnt, swap the 279973 thermal cut-off kit, 3392519 thermal fuse, and 279816 thermostat in the same visit to avoid a second teardown. Restricted airflow is the leading cause of repeated element failure, so clean the lint duct while the panel is off.

Unplug the dryer at the 240V breaker before removing the rear panel, live terminals will arc

Photograph the existing wire positions, disconnect the two spade tabs, remove retaining screws, lift the old coil out

Seat the new 8544771 without letting the coil touch the metal can, secure screws, reconnect wires per your photo

Vacuum the heater housing and blower area, lint packed against the coil is what killed the last one
